You’ve become inspired to be a resin artist. Maybe you’re still in quarantine or maybe you are just thinking of picking up a new hobby. Perhaps you have a work background in woodworking or another similar type of job involving epoxies. If you want to learn resin art you need epoxy resins.

How do you pick the best epoxy resin?

In this guide I ranked and reviewed the best epoxy resins based on curing time, cost, toxicity, yellowing or non yellowing, gloss finish, simple process or complicated, heat tolerance, flammability, shelf life, shipping method, fan base and more

You may have seen it before: that thick, glossy topcoat that graces the surface of artwork, photos, wood and craft projects for that gorgeous modern look. It’s time to get that look for yourself. It’s totally possible

Art Resin is the first resin I used for jewelry making and I found it incredibly easy to learn and fun.

You can find the complete safety data sheets on all of Art Resin’s products on their website.

ArtResin is different than other epoxy resins on the market

Here’s how:

ArtResin is made for artists, by artists. It was designed specifically to meet the needs of creative applications by prioritizing 2 key benefits:

1) to offer longterm clarity and superior protection against UV yellowing

2) to protect artists’ health with a resin that’s non-toxic when used as directed

This self-leveling resin cures to a high gloss, crystal-clear finish, making it ideal for a variety of projects. You can use it to cover photos or paintings, create coasters or epoxy tumblers, and even use it in wood-working and jewelry projects.

3. Easy Cast Castin’ Craft®

The Best Epoxy Resin for Hardening

EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy is one of the high-end epoxy resin options. This is a great epoxy for beginners as well.

I personally use the Casin’ Craft® Mold Release/Conditioner

In the past I have used EasyCast Clear Casting Epoxy 1 gallon kit. It is a very hard curing resin with a decent working time.

Ideal for small casts (6 ounces or less)

Provide adequate ventilation for storage. This product is flammable. Although it does not say I would in the data sheet, I would store this resin for less than 6 months and it should be kept at a temperature of 36℉ – 109℉

You can find the complete safety data sheets on all of Easy Cast Castin’ Craft epoxy on Google by searching for the name of the product and the words Material Safety Data Sheet.

Key Features:

This epoxy is made for casting projects, so it may not be the best for pouring application projects. You will find this epoxy is low-odor, solvent-free, and can be clear or opaque.

This resin is self-degassing, but you will want to check for bubbles just in case.

Thin pours will actually take longer to cure than thicker pours. To put it into perspective, a 1-inch casting will take 24 hours to softly cure and 72 hours to completely harden over.
